H Έκθεση περιλαμβάνει αρκετές επικριτικές αναφορές που αφορούν, μεταξύ άλλων,την διαρκή υπονόμευση δημοκρατικών θεσμών-κράτους δικαίου-θεμελιωδών δικαιωμάτων,τις φυλακίσεις ακτιβιστών-αυτοδιοικητικών-δημοσιογράφων,ζητήματα που αφορούν άμεσα την Ελλάδα όπως η μετατροπή των μνημείων όπως η Αγιά Σοφιά και η Μονή Χώρας σε τεμένη,τη συνεχιζόμενη απειλή πολέμου σε περίπτωση επέκτασης των χωρικών υδάτων και τις συνεχείς παραβιάσεις τους,την αμφισβήτηση της ελληνικής κυριαρχίας στα νησιά,την παρενόχληση στο πλαίσιο της ηλεκτρικής διασύνδεσης Ελλάδας-Κύπρου,τη συμπερίληψη της 'Γαλάζιας Πατρίδας"στα σχολικά εγχειρίδια.Ιδιαίτερα θετικό χαρακτηρίζεται και το λεκτικό της Έκθεσης για το Κυπριακό και την δίκαιη και βιώσιμη επίλυσή του. Ταυτόχρονα όμως,η Έκθεση επιβεβαιώνει έμμεσα την μετατόπιση Κομισιόν και Συμβουλίου προς μια "στρατηγική συνεργασία"με την Τουρκία και ορολογία που παραπέμπει ευθέως σε"ειδική σχέση",αποδυναμώνοντας την ενταξιακή προοπτική,που αποτελεί το πλαίσιο αναγκαστικής συμμόρφωσης της Τουρκίας με συγκεκριμένα κριτήρια και υποχρεώσεις,ιδιαίτερα στα διμερή θέματα.Ταυτόχρονα,αναβαθμίζει τη γείτονα σε επίπεδο αμυντικής συνεργασίας,παρότι αποτελεί διεθνή παράγοντα που επιβουλεύεται την εδαφική κυριαρχία κρατών-μελών της ΕΕ ή αμφισβητεί ακόμη και τη διεθνή τους οντότητα όπως πρόσφατα για την Κύπρο,ενώ δημιουργεί σοβαρούς κινδύνους για συμμετοχή της σε κοινά προγράμματα και εξοπλισμούς. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό και προκειμένου να επισημανθούν οι θετικές και οι αρνητικές αναφορές της Έκθεσης,σε σχέση με τις πάγιες ελληνικές θέσεις και το σεβασμό των ανθρωπίνων δικαιωμάτων,η ευρωομάδα του ΣΥΡΙΖΑ-ΠΣ τοποθετείται με αποχή.
